OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH

HISTORY, ASSESS THE PRESENT AND

CONTEMPLATE THE FUTURE

When Droupadi Murmu, the first woman President from a tribal community, addressed
the nation on the eve of the 77th Independence Day, it was not just limited to a customary
tradition. She mentioned about the pillars built in the last few years towards the goal of a
developed India. During her address to the nation, she mentioned the work being done by the
government for farmers' welfare, and upliftment of tribal and women and scientific milestones
like Chandrayaan mission. Along with this, she also told that how Independence Day is an
opportunity to reconnect with history in true sense, to assess the present and to think about
preparing the way for the future. With this approach, India has raised its own identity and
prestige on the world stage. Here are excerpts from the President's address:

Greetings to everyone on our 77th great enthusiasm.
Independence Day:
It is a glorious and auspicious occasion for all of us. Bhartiyata is our identity:
I am overjoyed to see that festivity is in the air. It is Independence Day reminds us that we are not merely
a matter of delight as well as pride for us to see how individuals, but we are part of a great community of
everyone – children, youth and the elderly, in cities and people. It happens to be the biggest and the greatest
villages, everywhere in India – are excited and preparing community of its kind. It is the community of the citizens
to celebrate this festival of our freedom. The people of the world’s largest democracy. What we celebrate on
have been celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with Independence Day is the fact that we are part of a great
