            DEFENCE SECTOR                                      Indian defence firms are increasingly playing
                                                                a significant role in the global supply chain.

                                                                        The Army is also buying everything from
                                                                        indigenous cannons to modern weapons from
                                                                        Indian companies.
                                                                        The government of India has set aside 68
                                                                        percent of the total budget for defence
                                                                        procurement for the current fiscal year for
                                                                        goods manufactured by Indian companies and
                                                                        people in order to increase the self-reliance
                                                                        of the Indian defence sector. By opening up
                                                                        research and innovation to startups, industry,
                                                                        and academia, 25% of the budget was also
                                                                        earmarked for them. A total of 411 such
                                                                        pieces of defence sector equipment have
                                                                        been identified and will be purchased only
                                                                        under "Make in India." The Defence Expo
                                                                        2022 featured only made-in-India defence
                                                                        equipment for the first time in the country.
                                                                        Our defence exports have increased eight
                                                                        times in the last six years. From Rs. 1940
                                                                        crore in 2014-2015 to Rs. 12,815 crore in
                                                                        2021-2022.This is a 570 percent increase.
