Railways to finalise reservation charts 8 hours ahead of train departure
Keeping in view the convenience of passengers travelling by train across the
country, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has taken an important decision.
The Railway Minister has directed the railway board to implement the initiative
of preparing reservation charts eight hours before the departure of the train in a
phased manner. This arrangement will reduce the uncertainty of passengers with
waiting list tickets. Also, in case the ticket is not confirmed on the waiting list,
passengers will get more time to make alternative arrangements. It has been said
that the chart for trains departing before 2 pm should be prepared by 9 pm on
the previous day. The ticketing system should be smart, transparent, smooth, and
efficient. Railways is taking several steps to make ticket booking easier.
