One of the most prominent figures of India’s freedom struggle,
Sarojini Naidu was an activist, a poet par excellence. Her work as a
poet earned her the sobriquet – ‘Nightingale of India’.
Post-Independence, she became India’s first woman Governor of
United Provinces, today known as Uttar Pradesh.
