New India Samachar is getting a good response and you must be waiting for
the next issue eagerly. Amid all gloom, the New Year has given a new hope as
the Government is ready with its plan to administer free COVID-19 vaccine to
over 3 Crore people in the first phase.
Women empowerment has always been at the core of policy formulation of
the Government to realise the dream of New India. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
campaign completes six years on January 22, 2021, and January 24 is observed
as National Girl Child Day. In view of this, there is a need to understand that
various campaigns rolled out by the Government have changed stereotypes
about women who are not only revered in Indian culture but have always shown
limitless potential.
In the past six years, the Government has formulated lots of policies focusing
on women, so that they can live up to their aspirations. Women have carved
a niche for themselves whether in the fields of education, science, economy,
self-employment, politics, entrepreneurship, sports and even being part of the
combat operations of the defence and paramilitary forces. The cover story of
the current issue outlines the story of honour, self-respect and self-reliance of
women. This is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowered
and self-reliant women.
January 23 is the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the
Government has a year-long plan to celebrate it. A special report on his life and
the Government decision of declassifying documents related to Netaji is part of
this issue.
There is an inspiring report about the braveheart and first Param Vir Chakra
awardee Major Somnath Sharma in the magazine. The tourism sector and Startup
India are also covered besides other regular features.
