"THE WORLD OF START-UPS IS
REFLECTING THE SPIRIT OF
NEW INDIA"
India's potential has got a new lease of life in the last 8 years. Startups are now
becoming unicorns. The spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is creating a sense of
dedication towards society. India, walking on the path of duty, is writing a new story.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his thoughts on these subjects in his "Mann
Ki Baat" programme just a day before the completion of eight years of government.
Also, on International Yoga Day, the Char Dham pilgrimage gave the mantra to make
cleanliness a pilgrimage service. Excerpts:
India's Century of Unicorns: Like on the cricket field, India has scored a century on another ground,
which is special. This month, the number of unicorns in India worth more than Rs 25 lakh crore
surpassed 100.A unicorn means a startup of at least seven and a half thousand crores. Last year,
44 unicorns came out, and this year 14 more were made in the last 3-4 months. The average annual
growth rate of Indian unicorns is higher than that of the US, UK, and many other countries. The
startup world is showcasing the spirit of New India. New entrepreneurs are now emerging from
even small towns and cities.
A Good Mentor to Startup: A good mentor, i.e., the right guidance, can take a startup to new heights.
Padma awardee Sridhar Vembu is grooming entrepreneurs in rural areas. Madan Padaki built the
One-Bridge, which has helped more than 9 thousand rural entrepreneurs in 75 districts of India.
Meera Shenoy is undertaking market-related skill training for rural, tribal, and differently-abled youth.
Women's Empowerment: Thanjavur Gudiya is writing a new chapter in the direction of women's
empowerment. Women's Self-Help Group stores and kiosks are opening. 22 Self-Help Groups
are associated with this initiative. Encourage the use of products made by SHGs in your area to
promote the self-reliant India campaign.
Duty Path: Only by following the path of duty can we empower society and the country. Ram Bhupal
Reddy of Andhra Pradesh donated his entire pension to the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for the
education of village girls. Shyam Singh of UP donated his entire pension to help lay a clean water
pipeline in his village.
Practise of cleanliness and service: At present, the holy journey of 'Char-Dham' of Uttarakhand is
going on in our country. People are sharing pleasant experiences of their 'Char-Dham Yatra'. But
the devotees are also saddened by the filth being spread by some pilgrims in Kedarnath. A heap
of dirt on the holy pilgrimage is not right. In the midst of these complaints, many good pictures are
also being seen. Someone is clearing the garbage from the travel route. Many organisations and
voluntary organisations are also working there along with the campaign team of Swachh Bharat.
Without a pilgrimage service, pilgrimage is also incomplete. There are many people in Devbhoomi,
Uttarakhand who are engaged in the practise of cleanliness and service.
Culture of India in Japan: Japan has a wonderful attachment and love for India. Hiroshi Koike has
directed Mahabharat in nine different countries using local talents. Each story he directs engages
with the country's local artistic diversity. Atsushi Matsuo and Kenji Yoshi have produced a Japanese
animation film based on the Ramayana. The film is being remade in 4K.
