Mann Ki Baat 2.0 Modi 2.0 (41st episode, October 30, 2022)

THE WORLD IS SURPRISED TO SEE

          INDIA'S ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE SOLAR

                        AND SPACE SECTORS

The tradition of worshipping the sun demonstrates how deeply our culture and faith are connected
to nature. In his "Mann Ki Baat" programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi connected "Chhath,"
the great festival of faith, with Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat while highlighting India's efforts and
significance in the field of solar energy. Apart from mentioning those who have given their lives to
protect the environment, he also interacted with the people of Surya Gram in Modhera. Here are
           excerpts from "Mann Ki Baat":

SURYA GRAM: The majority of the houses in Modhera Surya Gram have begun to generate electricity
using solar energy. Many households no longer receive monthly electricity bills, but electricity has
become a source of income. The day is not far when the creation of Surya Gram will become a big mass
             movement in India.
IMPORTANCE OF CHHATH PUJA: Chhath Puja is a great example of 'Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat.'
The items used for worship are prepared collaboratively by various communities. This festival also
emphasises the value of cleanliness in our daily lives.
SUN AND SCIENCE: At a time when the entire world is focusing on solar energy, our country has always
revered the Sun God, and it is the centre of our lives. India is combining traditional methods with modern
science. India is now one of the largest producers of solar energy.
SOLAR PUMPS AND LIFE: By fully utilising solar energy, India is transforming the lives of the country's
poor and middle classes. Thiru K.Ajilon, a farmer from Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, used the PM Kusum
scheme to install a solar pump in his farm, saving him money on electricity. Another recipient, Kamal
Meena of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, installed a solar pump on his farm, which reduced his expenses while
             also creating job.
SAVING MONEY WITH SOLAR ENERGY: With the power of the sun, money will now be saved and
income will rise. Manzoor Ahmed Larhwal of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, reduced his expenses by
installing a solar rooftop plant. Kunni Deori of Odisha teaches tribal women how to spin silk using solar-
powered reeling machines, which saves electricity.
SPACE SECTOR: My focus is on the space sector. This is due to our country's achievements in both
the solar and space sectors. The achievements of India today have surprised the entire world. With
the opening of doors for private players in the space sector, new opportunities for the country's youth
have emerged. Cryogenic rocket technology is paving the way for new avenues of development and
innovation. India has emerged as a major player in the global market.
ECO-FRIENDLY LIFE: Nowadays, there is a greater awareness of eco-friendly living among countrymen.
Suresh Kumar of Bangalore, Karnataka, rejuvenated the forest of Sahakarnagar 20 years ago by planting
saplings. 10,000 eco-friendly terracotta tea cups were prepared for export by a group of tribal women
from Anaikatti in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Tripura has some villages classified as Bio-Village-II.
INDIA AND TECHADE: This is the decade of Indian technology. The country's youth are working at an
extraordinary pace to solve the country's problems through hackathons. This month, 23 IITs gathered to
present their innovative and research projects. IIT Bhubaneswar researchers have developed a portable
ventilator that can be used to save the lives of premature babies in remote areas. IIT Madras and IIT
Kanpur have taken the lead in developing indigenous 5G testbeds.
