In the 99th edition of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra
Modi talked about people who dedicate their lives to serving others. Prime Minister Narendra
Modi says someone invests his entire pension in the education of daughters, while someone
else dedicates his entire earnings to the environment, service to life, or charity. In this
episode, along with sharing the achievements of women, PM Modi described organ donation
as a virtuous act and spoke to the organ donors.

ORGAN DONATION: In this day and age of modern medical science, organ donation has become a
n
popular way to save someone's life. It is said that when a person donates his or her body after death,
eight to nine people may be given a new life.
GOOD WORK: In 2013, there were fewer than 5,000 cases of organ donation in our country, but
n
by 2022, this figure had risen to more than 15,000 cases. Organ donors and their families have
done an incredible thing.
n FIRST WOMAN LOCO PILOT OF VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS: Surekha Yadav, Asia's first

woman loco pilot, has also become the first woman loco pilot of Vande Bharat Express, breaking
yet another record.

n A SPECIAL AWARD FROM IUPAC: Another achievement for the country has been achieved by
Scientist Sister Jyotirmoyee Mohanty of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Jyotirmoyee received
IUPAC's special award in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering.

n WOMEN MINISTERS FOR THE FIRST TIME: In Nagaland two women legislators won for the first
time in 75 years. One of them has also been made a minister in the Nagaland government. That is, for
the first time, the state's people have a female minister.

n FIRST WOMAN OFFICER TO BE POSTED IN SIACHEN: The brave Captain Shiva Chauhan of the
Indian Army has become the first woman officer to be posted in Siachen. Shiva will be stationed for
three months in Siachen, where the temperature drops to minus 60 degrees.
IMPORTANCE OF SOLAR ENERGY: The scientific understanding of the power of the sun in India and

the traditions of sun worship are rarely seen in other places. I am happy that today every countryman
understands the importance of solar energy and also wants to contribute towards clean energy.
100% CLEAN ENERGY: Diu has become the first district in India to use 100% clean energy for all day

time needs. Sabka Prayas (everyone’s effort) is the mantra for this success of Diu.
n GUINNESS RECORD: A few days back an essay writing campaign based on the life of Lasit

Borphukan was launched. About 45 lakh people sent essays for this, which has become a
Guinness record.

n INCREASING DEMAND FOR NADRU: In view of the increasing demand for Nadru (lotus stem) from

Kashmir, the farmers cultivating Nadru in Dal Lake have formed an FPO. Today these farmers have
started sending their Nadru to foreign countries. On the other hand, farmers in 'Bhadarwah' are
growing lavender instead of traditional maize, which has increased their income.
