COVER STORY International Year of Cooperatives
Efforts to boost the new generation’s affinity for cooperatives
Although approximately 320 million people in the country are associated with cooperatives in
some form or another, the central government wants to strengthen the cooperative foundation
by associating it with the future generation. This is why, under the guidance of the Ministry
of Cooperation and in consultation with NCERT, the National Council for Cooperative
Training (NCCT) has developed a special curriculum on cooperatives. Its goal is to make
school students aware of the role of cooperatives in nation-building and inspire them to pursue
a career in the cooperative sector. This special curriculum will be offered to secondary-level
students in schools with the NCERT curriculum.
