UNION CABINET DECISIONS





          DECISION:  Pune  Metro  Rail Project Phase
          2: Kharadi-Khadakwasla (Line 4)  and Nal
          Stop-Warje-Manik Baug (Line 4A) approved.
          IMPACT:  Lines 4 and 4A, totaling  31.6  kilom-
          eters with 28 elevated stations, will connect IT
          hubs,  commercial areas,  educational institu-
          tions, and residential  clusters  of East,  South,
          and West Pune. The project will be completed
          in five years at an estimated cost of r9,857.85
          crore. According to projections, daily ridership
          on Lines 4 and 4A is expected to reach 4.09 lakh
          combined  in  2028,  increasing  to  nearly  7  lakh
          in 2038, 9.63 lakh in 2048, and over 11.7 lakh in
          2058. With the approval of these corridors, the
          Pune Metro network will span over 100 kilome-
          ters. With Lines 4 and 4A, Pune will not only get
          more metro tracks, but also a faster, greener,
          and  more  connected  future.  This corridor  will
          reduce  commute  times,  decongest  traffic,  and
          provide  citizens  with  a  safe,  reliable,  and  af-
          fordable option.
