India’s Longest-Serving Elected PM | NATION
June 10, 2026, has been etched
in golden letters in the history of
the Indian Parliament. Driven by
the spirit of “Nation First,” Prime
Minister Narendra Modi’s relentless
journey has created history today.
On this historic date, having
completed 4,399 days in office, he
has become India’s longest-serving
elected Prime Minister.
Previously, this milestone was
held by India’s first Prime Minister,
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who
served for a total of 4,398 days—
from May 13, 1952, to May 27,
1964. Prime Minister Modi’s record
is not merely a count of days; it
is a testament to the deep faith
and unwavering trust that India’s
farmers, workers, youth, women,
and every section of society have
placed in their Prime Minister.
Marching forward on the path of
progress... this 12-year journey of
development has come to define
an era. Applauding Prime Minister
Modi on this achievement, the Union
Cabinet unanimously passed a
resolution affirming its resolve that,
under his able leadership, India will
continue to scale new heights as a
self-reliant, secure, prosperous, and
glorious nation, while strengthening
the path toward becoming a
developed nation by 2047.

oday, June 10, 2026, marks a historic and
inspiring milestone in the journey of Indian
democracy. Today, Shri Narendra Modi Ji
Thas become the Prime Minister to serve
the country for the longest continuous tenure as an
elected Prime Minister. He has set a record of contin-
uous service of 4,399 days as an elected PM—a feat
achieved for the first time in the history of indepen-
dent India. Earlier, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru had held this
post continuously for 4398 days from 1952 to 1964.
This occasion symbolizes the strength of India’s
democratic consciousness, public trust, and peo-
ple’s participation. When a public representative
lives by the resolve of ‘Nation First’, when he makes
truth, integrity, hard work, honesty, and probity in
life his guiding principles, and remaining steadfastly
dedicated to serving the people—then the public
bestows its blessings upon him in the form of un-
precedented support. Today’s historic moment is a
reflection of that same public blessing.
The Union Cabinet extends its heartfelt congratu-
lations and best wishes to the Hon’ble Prime Minister,
Shri Narendra Modi, on this occasion. This historic
milestone of June 10, 2026, coincides with other
significant achievements. The NDA government has
completed 12 years under the Hon’ble Prime Minis-
ter’s leadership. As the Head of the Government, the
respected Prime Minister is also about to cross the
historic milestone of 25 years of continuous service.
It is also noteworthy that after six decades, the
country has given a mandate to the NDA government
for a third consecutive term under the leadership of
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. We are proud
that our leadership is in such capable hands who have
sensitivity, restraint, intention and decisive ability.
The life of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi has been a symbol of service, courage and a con-
tinuous pursuit of nation building. His understanding
of ground realities due to his vast experience as an
organization worker and then as the Chief Minister of
a state has made the policies more sensitive, practical
and result-oriented.
After taking oath as Prime Minister in 2014, he
called himself “Pradhan Sevak” in the Central Hall
of Parliament. He had described the country’s
Constitution as a holy book and also said that his
government is dedicated to the poor. Making the
