PARIS AGREEMENT
INDIA’S SUCCESS
The Paris Agreement of
2015 is crucial for checking the
climate change and reducing
its negative effects. As per the
agreement, 179 countries of
the world are committed to stop
the temperature rise at 2 ° C
or possibly 1.5 ° C during this
century. According to the report
of Climate Transparency, India
is the only country among the
G20 nations that has achieved
the target set under the Paris
Agreement. This shows India's
consistent efforts towards
renewable energy along with
environmental protection.
This reflects upon India’s
persistent efforts to create
renewabale energy sources
and its commitment towards
environment protection.
FOR A GREATER SOLAR MAP

PMahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) is an important instrument
towards connecting agriculture sector with modern
technology. With the Government’s core objective to
bring prosperity in the lives of farmers, the Scheme aims
to establish a new paradigm of success towards creating
a strong solar map across the country in harnessing
renewable energy resources.
India is a predominantly agrarian economy and farmers
for long believed in irrigation methods depending upon use
of conventional energy resources like electricity through
thermal or hydro power. Lack of water for irrigation has
always been a hindrance for a good yield over the years.
With the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, the
Government launched PM-KUSUM in February 2019,
which was announced in the Union Budget of 2018-2019.
Crop damage is a recurrent problem due to erratic rainfall
and lack of irrigation facilities. With PM-KUSUM scheme,
farmers will be able to get irrigation facility by installing
Solar pumps. They can also produce electricity by setting
up solar panels in their fields and selling surplus to discoms.
Uninterrupted power supply could be ensured in villages,
which aims to install a total solar capacity of 25,750 MW by
2022. As per the target, three Crore irrigation pumps will
be run by solar energy instead of electricity generated by
other means by 2022. The Scheme will cost a total of Rs
1.40 Lakh Crore. Both the Centre and State Governments
will contribute Rs 48,000 Crore each. Farmers will have
to bear 10 per cent of the total cost of solar pump. About
Rs 34,422 Crore for KUSUM scheme will be sanctioned
through bank loans.
