INDIA MAKES HISTORY IN LAWN BALL

INDIA’S GOLD MEDAL WINNERS s the country celebrates 75 years of independence,

Nayanmoni Sakia, who defeated the South African team
17-10. As of August 2, Indian players had won 13 medals,
including 5 gold and 5 silver, and were ranked sixth
out of 72 countries in the medal tally. Mirabai Chanu
bagged India's first gold medal in weightlifting. Out of
a total of 13, 8 medals, including 3 gold, were won in
weightlifting only. When India's Jeremy Lalrinnunga, a
19-year-old weightlifter, won gold in the 67 kg category,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him, saying,
"Our youth power is creating history! Congratulations to
Jeremy, who won gold in his first Commonwealth Games
and set a fantastic record. At such a young age, he made
the country proud."
