ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY: 7 DECEMBER
Day dedicated to honouring the
soldiers of India's armed forces
Armed soldiers are ready in every situation to sacrifice their lives for the honour and
defence of the nation. The nation is indebted to the martyrs who laid down their
lives in the line of duty. Similarly, Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated every year on
December 7 for the welfare of soldiers, martyrs, and their families. All three armies
organize programmes and grants are taken from citizens by distributing small flags
among the citizens. This amount is deposited in the Flag Day Fund. This is also a way
of discharging the responsibility by the citizens for taking care of soldiers disabled in
war, brave women, and martyr families. So participate in it actively...
On August 28, 1949, the government set up a
committee for army personnel, the same committee
chose December 7 to celebrate Flag Day.
On this day, the amount is collected by distributing
car flags in motor vehicles and emblem flags.
With the collected amount, assistance schemes
related to the welfare and rehabilitation of the families
of martyred soldiers, disabled, former, and serving
soldiers, and their dependents are carried out.
Armed Forces Flag Day is a day to express gratitude to our armed forces and
their families. India is proud of their bravery and selfless sacrifice. Contribute
something for the welfare of our armed forces; your generosity will go a long
way toward assisting many of our brave soldiers and their families."
- Narendra Modi, Prime Minister
