MANTRA OF SELF-RELIANT INDIA:
"THINK BIG, DREAM BIG AND WORK
HARD TO MAKE THEM COME TRUE"
Every individual, every business, sets a New Year's goal to do better in the coming year. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi underlined the phenomenal journey of the last seven years in his final 'Mann
Ki Baat' of the year-2021, in which the glorious and hard efforts of individuals and society have been
recognized. In his 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister spoke on the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Indian
culture, cleanliness, the value of literature in one's life, and the importance of dreaming big and working
towards realizing those dreams. Excerpts :
COVID AND MANPOWER: It is the power of manpower that India could fight the biggest epidemic
in 100 years. When we compare India's immunization statistics to those of the rest of the world, we
can see what a remarkable success it has made.
CAUTION: It's also worth noting that a new Corona variant has arrived. In such a situation, our own
awareness and discipline are powerful weapons against this variant. Our combined strength will
beat Corona, and it is with this responsibility that we must enter 2022.
GROUP CAPTAIN VARUN SINGH: In the recent tragedy in Tamil Nadu, we lost several heroes,
including the country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat. Varun Singh, the Group Captain, was also
among them. He had written a letter to his school's principal. In the letter, Varun Singh did not speak
of his bravery, but rather of his failings. He discussed how he transformed his flaws into strengths.
DISCUSSION ON EXAMS: Every year, I discuss topics related to dealing with exam stress. This
year, I intend to talk with the students before the exam as well. The online competition will also be
organized for students, teachers, and parents of classes 9 to 12.
BOOKS AND PERSONALITY: Books not only provide knowledge, but they also help to shape a
person's personality and life. At a time when our screen time is increasing, book reading is becoming
increasingly popular, and we must all work together to achieve this.
ANCIENT CULTURE: There is a growing interest in learning about Indian culture around the world
nowadays. If the people of our country are committed, the desire to adorn, beautify, and maintain
our historical arts can become a widespread movement across the country. A simple effort, even a
small one, can go a long way toward preserving our rich cultural heritage.
BIRD CONSERVATION: An Airgun Surrender Campaign has been initiated in Arunachal Pradesh
to address the fall in forest bird numbers, with over 1600 people in the region surrendering their
firearms to reduce bird poaching.
CLEANLINESS IN A NEW WAY: Whether it's institutions or the government, everyone plays a
part in the endeavour to keep the environment clean. On a matter like cleanliness, our government
departments may be very creative. No one believed it until a few years ago. The junkyard has been
turned into a courtyard cafeteria by the Department of Posts. The Ministry of the Environment has
turned the unused space into a wellness center. Plastic debris was cleared by NCC cadets as part of
the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. A group of young entrepreneurs has launched a start-up Clean Water.
RESOLUTION: In order to propel the country to new heights of development, we must maximize the
utilization of all available resources. This is also the mantra of India's self-sufficiency. Let us reaffirm
our commitment to think big, dream big, and do everything we can to make those dreams come true.
