Sadar Namaskar,
India's Yoga, philosophy, spirituality, and culture have attracted the attention of the
whole world. Our new generation has also developed a renewed interest in reconnecting
with our roots. The tourism sector in India has grown both nationally and internationally
as a result of this. In a short period of time, the options have multiplied.
The efforts to boost tourism are aimed at resurrecting the country's ancient glory with
a thrust on overhauling infrastructure. It involves making India a tourism hub by exploiting
its vast potential of natural and pristine geographical locations apart from promoting the
historical and cultural sites.
Tourism is getting the direct benefit of strong connectivity. Whether it is an endeavour
to connect small towns through the UDAN scheme or the rapid construction of road
networks, projects such as PRASHAD, Swadesh Darshan, heritage site development, and
exceptional success in the health sector are giving Indian tourism a new dimension. India
has jumped from 65th place in 2013 to 34th position in the World Tourism Rankings, and
its development is accelerating.
Developing tourist amenities, implementing e-visas, and taking steps to beautify cities
and villages; through tourism, the common people of the country are not only contributing,
but also pushing the country ahead. The tourist sector is becoming an indicator of
inclusive prosperity due to its connectivity, hospitality, and facilities. Our cover story this
year, on the occasion of National Tourism Day, focuses on the growth and potential of
Indian tourism.
On the occasion of anniversary of government's ambitious programme- Beti Bachao,
Beti Padhao, you'll also learn how this programme has revolutionised the sex ratio, with
the ratio of females to boys growing for the first time in India.
In this issue, you'll read how a business becomes a unicorn and how the youth's
contributions to the country's success are gaining traction. The personality section
features Field Marshal General K.M. Cariappa, while an inspiring story about the heroes
of Azad Hind Fauj from our series of Amrit Mahotsva heroes is the specialty of this issue.
Infrastructure is an important factor in the progress of the nation and at the end of the
last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given many gifts of development, which you
will read in this issue.
The government has now expanded the Covid vaccination campaign to cover teens
aged 15 to 18. In the New Year, the nation's collective strength will undoubtedly spur
progress to new heights. However, it is important that you all continue to follow Covid's
routine.
