4,345 CHILDREN UNDER THE CARE OF PRIME

n The Prime Minister of the country through his
office has been looking after the welfare of 4,345
children for the last one year. These are the
children who lost both their parents to Covid.
n PM CARES for Children was launched for the
children who lost their parents during the Covid
period. Under this scheme, the children were
brought under the protection of their guardians
and relatives. In the absence of any relatives of the
child, they were taken to childcare institutions.
n Anganwadis are taking care of their complete
nutrition, vaccination, and health check-up. Along
with this, they will also get the facility of health
insurance of Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat
scheme.
n The responsibility for the protection of children
has been entrusted to the District Magistrates.
Along with this, money has been given by
the Government of India to the children for
accommodation, food, and books apart from
scholarships. Also, arrangements for their stay
during the holidays have been made at a suitable
place.
n The Ministry of Women and Child Development is
working continuously for the holistic development
of children in collaboration with other Ministries.
n For other daily needs of the children, an
arrangement of Rs.4000 per month has also been
made for them through other schemes.
