The inspiring saga of the Indian freedom struggle will continue to motivate the
generations forever. In India's quest for freedom, many sacrificed their lives for
freeing Maa Bharati from the bondage of slavery. The nation cannot repay the
debt of our freedom fighters. Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations,
we remember freedom fighters and great personalities who made a significant
contribution to the freedom struggle which still inspires us on the path of duty...
V.O. Chidambaram Pillai was forced to pull the
oil press to break his passion for freedom
Born: 5 September 1872, Death: 18 November 1936
ne of the leading personalities of the Chidambaram Pillai visited Madras and became
freedom movement VO Chidambaram Pillai associated with the Swadeshi movement started
Olearned the lessons of politics from Bal by Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Lala Lajpat Rai.
Gangadhar Tilak. He was born on 5 September He was also drawn closer to the Ramakrishna
1872 in Tamil Nadu. He was also known by the Mission. Chidambaram Pillai started spreading
name of 'Kappalottiya Tamilian'. He entered the swadeshi throughout the region by forming
freedom movement after the partition of Bengal 'Swadeshi Prachar Sabha'. He also formed
