Mental toughness, leadership, and the
confidence to take risks are very easily
learned in the field. With this spirit, the
“Khelo India Scheme” was launched on 22
April 2016. Be it the emphasis on sports
in the new National Education Policy
or the creation of sports infrastructure,
transparency in the selection of players,
or promotion of the use of modern
technology in sports, this is the identity of

Sports has emerged as
an important domain that introduces to the world
the country's image and power in an organized
and structured manner. Keeping this in mind, the
Khelo India scheme was launched in the year 2016
with 12 sub-components to boost a strong sports
ecosystem.
The revised Khelo India Scheme added 5 more
sub-components which are being implemented
for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 based on
the experience gained from the implementation of
the scheme and the suggestions received from the
third-party evaluators. The budget of Khelo India
has been increased from Rs 657.71 crore in 2021-
22 to Rs 1045 crore in 2023-24.
Indian players emerging from 'Khelo India'
and other platforms have been performing
exceptionally well in the Olympics, commonwealth,
and other tournaments. India has improved its
position in world-level sports competitions. Now
the dominance of Indian players is increasing in
the sports world, and along with it, a new identity
of Indian sports is being created. The golden age of
Indian sports has arrived. More and more resources
and opportunities are being provided to the players
