Cover Story India's G20 Presidency
a special University Connect event was
held, bringing together students from 75
different universities across the country.
The goal of the University Connect
programme was to get young people
involved in G-20 activities. Students from
various schools were also involved through
special G-20 sessions. Similarly, the G-20
placed a special emphasis on the Hornbill
Festival in Kohima to encourage people to
participate. The G-20 logo was specially
illuminated on 100 monuments, including
some UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Not only that, but citizens were invited to
participate in a selfie campaign centred on
these illuminated monuments. Sudarshan
Patnaik, an Odisha-based sand artist,
created sand art of India's G-20 logo at Puri
beach.
India's G-20 presidency is a source of
great pride because it brings together the
national presidents of almost all major
developed and developing countries who
will attend the summit in 2023. India wants
to strengthen this global trust for the
future, so Prime Minister Narendra Modi
has held separate meetings with the heads
of government and political parties of all
states and union territories, urging them to
cooperate. These consultation meetings,
according to Prime Minister Modi, are a
good opportunity for India to present the
country's strengths in the form of tourism,
investment, and business opportunities
in the states where the meetings will be
held. The G-20's previous 17 presidencies
achieved significant results, including
ensuring macroeconomic stability,
rationalising international taxation, and
reducing various countries' debt burdens.
However, India's journey must now continue
in order to catalyse a fundamental shift in
mindset for the benefit of the entire human
race. The G-20 presidency of India will work
to promote this universal spirit of unity
throughout the world. That's why India has
given the theme of "One Earth, One Family,
One Future".
