                                WORLD WATER DAY

                                                    March 22

Thousands of years ago, Indian sages conceived a restrained, balanced, and sensitive system for
dealing with nature, the environment, and water. "Ma apo hinsi," our scriptures say. That is, rather than
destroying water, we should conserve it. For thousands of years, this feeling has been a part of our
spirituality and religion. It is the center of our society's culture, social thinking. That is why we give God
the name of water and regard rivers as mothers. When a society develops such an emotional attachment
to nature, what is known as sustainable development becomes its natural way of life.

Jal Jan Abhiyaan is being launched at a time when water
scarcity is being viewed as a future crisis around the world.
The world is waking up to the seriousness of our planet's
limited water resources in the 21st century. Water security
is a major concern for India due to its large population.
That's why today the country is looking at water as 'future of
tomorrow' in the Amrit Kaal of independence. There will be
tomorrow only if there is water. To accomplish this, we must
work together, beginning today. Today, when we are looking
for solutions to the challenges of the future, we have to
revive that consciousness of the past.
