Socio-economic condition of tribal communities will improve



            n    Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan will be
               launched to improve the socio-economic condition of
               tribal communities.
            n    Under the scheme, steps will be taken for full coverage of
               tribal families in aspiring districts and tribal-dominated
               villages.
            n    This will benefit 5 crore tribal people in 63 thousand
               villages.

                                                                The total outlay for the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
                                                                in the Union Budget 2024-25 is around Rs
                                                                13,000 crore. This represents a significant
                                                                increase of 73.60 percent over the Revised
                                                                Estimate (RE) of the previous year.


                                         Increase in allocation for tribal development



               The focus of the government has been on the overall   programs for the development of Scheduled Tribes. Its
               development of Scheduled Tribes, to bring them at   programs and schemes support and complement the
               par with other communities of the country. For this, the   efforts of other Central Ministries, State Governments,
               Central Government has been continuously making   and Voluntary Organisations by providing financial
               efforts. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs acts as the nodal   assistance and filling critical gaps in the needs of the
               ministry for overall policy, planning, and coordination of   Scheduled Tribes.



            n    The budget allocation for the Ministry has been
               substantially increased from Rs. 4,497.96 crores in
               2014-15 to Rs. 13,000 crores in 2024-25, an increase of
               about 189.02 percent.
            n    Under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP), 42 Ministries/
               Departments allocate funds ranging from 4.3 to
               17.5 percent of their total plan allocations each
               year for tribal development projects in sectors such
               as education, health, agriculture, irrigation, roads,
               housing, electrification, employment generation, and
               skill development.

            n    The Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) is now known as the
               Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes
               (DAPST).

            n    The Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes
               (DAPST) fund allocation has increased by almost 5.8
               times since 2013-14 from Rs 21,525.36 crore (actual
               expenditure) in 2013-14 to Rs 1,24,908.00 crore in
               Budget Estimates 2024-25.
