India's first overseas Jan Aushadhi Kendra opens in Mauritius

ndia's first Jan Aushadhi Kendra has opened in Mauritius. External
IAffairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar inaugurated this center along with
Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth on 17 July. The
External Affairs Minister said, " The India-Mauritius health partnership
project will supply cost-effective, Made-in-India medicines to augment
public healthcare and enhance well-being".
This Jan Aushadhi Center fulfills the promise made by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi earlier this year. Generic medicines are available at
Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which are not only cheaper than their branded
counterparts but their quality and efficacy are also similar to them.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister also inaugurated the Mediclinic project
built with India's financial assistance in the Grand Bois region of
Mauritius, which will provide specialized treatment services to 16
thousand people in this area.
