ever. Also, while a problem like the global crisis
made it a need, India, equipped with youth power
and capability, has an opportunity. Along with this,
India, which is rich in immense natural resources,
must make full use of it for 'Make in India'.

in every sector
Today, the country has missions like Startup India,
programs like Standup India are going on, such
a big campaign of Digital India is in front of us,
Make in India is being accelerated, the country
has started a mass movement of self-reliant India,
modern infrastructure is expanding rapidly in every
corner of the country, highways are being built, high-
speed expressways are being built. India is setting
a new example in the field of semi-conductors. In
the last few years, many successful efforts have
been made to promote 'Make in India' at different
levels. Big steps have been taken to take these
efforts to the next level. This has increased both
speed and scale. For a long time, India has been
known as the world's arms buyer country. But
today the country's mantra is - Make in India-Make
for the world. Today, India is working to make its
forces self-reliant. It is also connecting the talent
of the country's private sector with the country's
defense sector. New start-ups are now getting
a chance to show their talent in this field as well.
The country has also decided that a large part of
the weapons and equipment being purchased from
the defense budget is being spent on Make in India
equipment. The pace of development that India has
achieved in the last few years, the achievements it
has made, are extraordinary, and unprecedented.

today and are the third largest startup eco-system
in the world. Today, India is once again one of the
fastest-growing economies in the world. Missions

Make in India led to growth in these sectors
Oil and Gas
Indian refining capacity
has grown from 215.1
million metric tonnes
per annum (MMTPA) to
256.8 MMTPA in the last 10 years.
It is projected to grow to 309.5
MMTPA by 2028.
Medical Devices
n India is the world's third largest exporter
of drugs and pharmaceuticals by volume,
exporting 50% of production.
n Due to the PLI scheme, there has been a
significant reduction in raw material imports
in the pharma sector. Unique intermediate
materials and bulk drugs are now being
manufactured in India, including penicillin-G.
n India has maintained a strong position in
the drugs and pharmaceuticals sector. The
sector's share in India's exports was 5.8 percent
in FY 2019, which increased to 6.4 percent in
2024. Exports have increased from US$ 19.1
billion to US$ 27.9 billion.
n When the PLI scheme was launched, India used
to import 90% of medical equipment. After the
PLI scheme, for the first time in 2023, the import
of medical equipment has decreased.
