each other's strength. We should learn
from each other's experiences. Share
our capabilities. Together, take our
resolutions to accomplishment.

development. India prepared the agenda for India's
G20 chairmanship based on the hopes, aspirations,
and priorities of the Global South. The biggest
example of this was the historic moment when the
African Union became permanent member in the
G-20.
Expressing concern over the global uncertainty,
PM Modi said that the world has not yet fully come
out of the effects of Covid. On the other hand,
the situation of war has posed challenges to our
development journey. We are facing the challenges
of climate change, and now there are also concerns
about health security, food security, and energy
security. Terrorism, extremism, and separatism
remain a serious threat to our society. The global
governance and financial institutions formed in the
last century have been unable to fight the challenges
of this century. It is the need of the hour that the
countries of the Global South unite, stand together
in one voice, and become each other's strength.
India is committed to sharing its experiences and
capabilities with all the countries of the Global
South. We want to promote mutual trade, inclusive
development, progress of Sustainable Development
Goals, and women-led development. An initiative
has been taken to connect various countries of
the Global South with UPI. Last year, the Global
South Young Diplomat Forum was also started.
The Global South Excellence Centre is working on
capacity building, skills, and knowledge sharing
among us.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the
Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository was
the first multilateral agreement reached at the G20.
Agreements have been reached with 12 partners
from the Global South to share the 'India Stack'. To
accelerate DPI in the Global South, we have created
a Social Impact Fund. India will make an initial
contribution of $25 million to it. The Voice of Global
South conference is a platform where we are giving
voice to the needs and aspirations of those who
have been unheard of so far.
In his concluding statement, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi said that the countries have put
forward their common concerns and ambitions.
This clearly shows that the Global South is united.
A path has been prepared to move forward with
mutual harmony. I am confident that this will
provide momentum to achieve our common
goals. He proposed a comprehensive 'Global
Development Compact' on behalf of India at the
conference, the foundation of which will be based
on India's development journey and experiences
of development partnership. This compact will be
inspired by the development priorities set by the
countries of the Global South themselves. It will not
burden the needy countries with debt in the name
of development finance. It will help in the balanced
and sustainable development of partner countries.
India will launch a special fund of $ 2.5 million to
strengthen trade promotion activities. Training will
be provided in trade policy and trade negotiations
for capacity building. A fund of one million dollars
will be provided for this.
The Solutions to these concerns depend on just
and inclusive global governance, such institutions
whose priorities give preference to the Global
South, where developed countries also fulfill their
responsibilities and commitments, and take steps
to reduce the gap between the Global North and the
Global South. The Summit of the Future to
be held in the UN next month can become
an important milestone for all this. n
