Nature and Progress
Both Integral to India’s
Culture
In India’s millennia-old culture,
progress coexists harmoniously
with nature. Our ancestors’
aspiration was: पृृथ्वीःः� पृः� च उवीःी
भवीः।—meaning, May the whole
earth, the whole environment,
be most advantageous for all of
us and give an opportunity to
our dreams. Amidst the global
efforts currently underway to
combat the threat of climate
change, India has emerged as a
beacon of hope. It is only
through the united efforts of
the nation and its citizens—
dedicated to safeguarding the
climate and the environment—
that we will be able to pass on
a secure environment to future
generations.
The balance between development and the
environment is an integral part of our
ancient tradition—a tradition that we are
now transforming into a source of strength
for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’ Our scriptures
have always taught us the balance in the
relationship between living beings and
nature, between the individual and the
collective, and between the soul and the
Divine. Everything we do for ourselves has a
direct impact on our environment as well.
Therefore, India is increasingly intensifying
its efforts towards the efficient utilization of
its resources.
