A Key Pillar of the
Global Economy
India and Korea share cultural ties that
go back thousands of years. With the
aim of giving a new direction to the
bilateral relations between the two
nations, Korean President Lee Jae-
Myung visited India from April 19 to
21. During this visit, agreements were
reached between the two countries
on several key issues, including
shipbuilding, maritime logistics, and
the environment, and a decision was
taken to move forward together.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that
democratic values, a market economy, and
respect for the rule of law are embedded in
the DNA of both nations. Both countries also
share common interests in the Indo-Pacific
region. Building upon these foundations, the
relationship between the two nations has
become more dynamic and comprehensive
over the past decade. Through this visit by
the Korean president, this trusted partner-
ship is now set to evolve into a futuristic
partnership. From chips to ships, from talent
to technology, and from the environment to
energy, new opportunities for cooperation
will be realised across every sector.
Korean President Lee Jae-myung remarked
that India, as the world’s fourth-largest
economy and home to 1.4 billion people,
stands as a key pillar of the global economy.
