                                                                   THE  DIGITAL  RUPEE  WILL
                                                                   NOW BE USED
                                                                      Union  Finance  and  Corporate  Affairs
                                                                     Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the
                                                                     introduction of the digital rupee in the Union
                                                                     Budget 2022–23.
                                                                      This digital rupee will be issued by the
                                                                     Reserve Bank of India in 2022-23.
                                                                      The  Central  Bank  Digital  Currency  (CBDC)
                                                                     will  give  the  digital  economy  a  significant
                                                                     boost.
                                                                      According  to  the  Finance  Minister,  digital
                                                                     currency will enable a more efficient and
                                                                     cost-effective   currency   management
                                                                     system. Block chains and other technologies
                                                                     will be used in digital currency.



                                                                   SPORTS BUDGET HIKED

                                                                      This  time,  the  sports  budget  has  been
                                                                     increased  by  Rs  300  crore.  The  sports
                                                                     budget  for  the  years  2021–2022  was  Rs
                   FISCAL DEFICIT                                    2757.02 crore, but it has been increased to
                                                                     Rs 3062.60 crore for the years 2022–23.

                                                                     increased by Rs 305.58 crore.

                                                                     implemented at a cost of Rs 44,605 crore.
                                                                     It intends to provide irrigation services for
                                                                     9.08  lakh  hectares  of  farmland,  drinking
                                                                     water  for  62  lakh  people,  103  MW  of
                                                                     hydroelectric  power,  and  27  MW  of  solar
                                                                     power.
                                                                      The Revised Budget Estimates for 2021-22
                                                                     allocate Rs 4,300 crore to this project, and
                                                                     Rs 1,400 crore in 2022-23.
                                                                      In  addition,  the  draft  DPRs  of  five  river
                                                                     links  namely  Damanganga-Pinjal,  Par-
                                                                     Tapi-Narmada,  Godavari-Krishna,  Krishna-
                                                                     Pennar  and  Pennar-Cauvery  have  been
                                                                     finalised.
