PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, AND SANITATION IN CITIES
Building new cities and updating
outdated infrastructure
Because of the rapid development of India in the 21st century, many new cities
will be required in the near future in India's fast-paced environment. In India,
there are two major aspects of urban development: the creation of new cities and
the modernization of old systems in existing cities. Keeping this in mind, urban
development is being prioritised in every budget, which will accelerate planned
urbanisation. Urban planning will determine the fate of the cities in the Amrit Kaal
because better planning will result in more climate-friendly and water-protected
cities. Now, policies are being developed that not only make life easier for city
dwellers, but also aid in their own development.
Budget Proposals
n Every year, the government will spend Rs 10,000 crore on the Urban Infrastructure
Development Fund. This money will be spent on infrastructure in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
n A Rs 15,000 crore incentive has been set for urban planning standards.
n This year's budget includes a commitment to spend approximately 79 thousand crore rupees
on the PM-Awas Yojana.
n Septic tanks and drains will be cleaned entirely by machines for urban sanitation. The
scientific management of dry and wet waste will receive special attention.
n Cities are being prepared to improve the creditworthiness of municipal bonds.
