A healthy mind resides only in a healthy
body. That's why the Government of
India considers health infrastructure and
doctors who heal the body as important
for the future. Seats should not become an
obstacle for the youth to become doctors,
so the government is not only promoting
higher education in India's mother tongue,
but is also continuously increasing the
seats at graduate and post-graduate level.
There has been a massive increase of
87% in MBBS seats and 105% in PG seats
in the last 8 years. Since 2014, there has
been an increase of 96% in the number of
government medical colleges and 42% in
the private sector. National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test (NEET) was launched with
the philosophy of 'One Nation, One Exam,

THAKUR ROSHAN SINGH
CONSIDERED MARTYRDOM
TO BE WORTH REJOICING
AND NOT REGRET
Born: 22 January 1892, Died: 19 December 1927
on't be angry for me, my death will not be worth
"Dregretting, it will be worth rejoicing." These
words were written by Thakur Roshan Singh, an ardent
revolutionary, in a letter to his friend just before his
execution. Born on 22 January 1892, to Kaushalya Devi
and Jangi Singh in Nawada village in Shahjahanpur, Uttar
Pradesh, Thakur Roshan Singh was an ardent nationalist
who wanted to free India from the clutches of the British
colonialists. Thakur Roshan Singh was famous as a
good wrestler and shooter for whose parents it is said
that they they brought up their son in a way to play a
strong role in the freedom struggle.
During the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920–21),
volunteers led by Thakur Roshan Singh took out a
protest march in the Bareilly area against the ban on
the nationalist activities of volunteer groups of the
Indian National Congress by the British authorities. To
stop this, the police opened fire and arrested protesters
including Roshan Singh. For this he was sentenced to
two years in Bareilly Central Jail. Thakur Roshan Singh
vowed to avenge the brutal treatment meted out to him
by the jailer in Bareilly during this period. After his release
from jail, he met Pandit Ramprasad Bismil. He gave
Roshan Singh the responsibility of teaching shooting
to the new revolutionaries. Thakur Roshan Singh joined
the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association in
Ashfaqullah Khan, Rajendra Nath Lahiri and many other
revolutionaries. Thakur Roshan Singh's fearlessness
and courage drew the attention of the British rule
towards him. Despite not being involved in the Kakori
train incident, the authorities caught and tried him, in
which he was sentenced to death along with Ramprasad
Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan and Rajendra Nath Lahiri. The
British authorities were apprehensive of these fearless
revolutionaries and to ensure that none of them escaped,
they decided to hang Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah
Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri on
19 December 1927 at Gorakhpur, Allahabad (Prayagraj)
and Gonda jail separately. Thakur Roshan Singh was
hanged on 19 December 1927.
