6 Years of GST Cover Story
GST not only benefited the exchequer but also gave a boost to the development of the
country. GST has also made life easier for the business class to common people. Importance
of GST from the mouth of its beneficiaries...
Pavani Bakery Agarwal, an Ahmedabad resident, sees many benefits in GST as well. She
believes that there was so much direct tax at every stage of production that when the
product hit the market, it was very expensive for the consumer. At the same time, the tax
structure became extremely complex. "With the introduction of GST, this is no longer a
problem," she says. The second benefit is that it will boost the GDP, and black money will be
restricted. The effort to implement GST has been going on for a very long time.
A Himachal Pradesh businessman is also pleased with the implementation of
GST. "A good start has been made through GST," he says. Previously, we had
to wait for our goods for several days; now, after paying the bill from here,
our goods arrive directly to us. There is no longer any delay. He believes it has
benefited both ordinary people and businessmen.
Pawan Chamol, a Kolkata resident, believes that the government led by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi has succeeded in implementing GST solely through its own efforts.
"Previously, there were many taxes," he says. At the same time, the paperwork has been
reduced as a result of the imposition of a single tax. It also has numerous other advantages."
Ratnesh, a resident of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, finds it easy to conduct
business with GST. "Everything has gone online," he said. People used to
conceal their income and purchases in the past. And now that GST has been
implemented, no one can steal."
Hemant Shankar, a resident of Kalyan in Mumbai, has also reaped
significant benefits from the implementation of GST. "Online tax filing
has brought a lot of benefits," he says. The introduction of GST has
put an end to tax evasion."
According to Mahendra Solanki, a businessman from Shajpur in Madhya Pradesh,
accounts had to be submitted within the first three months. He now gives the
account once a month. He says, there has been greater transparency in the work
by providing accounts every month rather than every three months.
