At the conclusion of the Paris Olympics,
I appreciate the efforts of the entire
Indian contingent through the Games.
All the athletes have given their best.
Every Indian is proud of them. Best
wishes to our sports heroes for their
upcoming endeavours.

now a part of TOPS. Initially, some players have
also received assistance from Khelo India.
TOPS includes a development group of more
than 130 players targeted for the 2028 and 2032
Olympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
dreamed of making India a developed country
by 2047 and sports will play a big role in this.
By the year 2047, India will also be included
in the top 5 countries of the world in terms of
sports ecosystem. Nationwide sports talent
campaign initiatives like Khelo India Rising
Talent Initiative-KIRTI will play an important
role in identifying future Olympians from the
grassroots level. India is strongly leveraging
soft power of sports and has also started the
process of bidding to host the 2036 Olympics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised
the Indian contingent at the closing of Paris
Olympics 2024 and called the Indian athletes
heroes and wished them all the best for
their future endeavors. PM Modi earlier also
congratulated and wished the medal-winning
players over the telephone.
Hockey in India is more than just a game. It is
a symbol of our national pride. The same Indian
men's hockey team created a record of winning
two consecutive Olympics after 52 years by
winning the bronze medal in Paris Olympics
2024 after Tokyo Olympics 2020. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi said to the Indian hockey team
on winning the bronze medal in Paris Olympics,
"This is such a great achievement that
generations to come will cherish. The Indian
hockey team shined at the Olympic Games
and managed to win the bronze medal. This is
an even more special achievement as this is
their second consecutive medal at the Olympic

Sarabjot Singh, who won the bronze medal along
with Manu Bhaker in the 10m air pistol shooting mixed
team at the Paris Olympics, hails from Dheen village in
Ambala, Haryana. Sarabjot Singh's father Jatinder Singh
is a farmer and mother Hardeep Kaur is a housewife.
Sarabjot initially dreamed of becoming a footballer, but
the inspiration he got from air pistol shooting during the
summer camp turned him towards this sports and then
started winning medals one after the other.
Sarabjot Singh has studied from DAV College,
Chandigarh. Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh has been
a part of the Indian shooting team in the 2022 Asian
Games held in China. He won the gold medal by
defeating China in the 10m air pistol team event at
the Asia Games. In the World Cup held in Bhopal in
the year 2023, Sarabjot won the gold medal in 10m air
pistol. In 2023 itself, Sarabjot won the gold medal in
the 10m air pistol mixed team at the World Cup held
in Baku. Earlier, Sarabjot Singh has won gold medals in
the individual and team event competition of the 2021
World Championship.
Sarabjot Singh has been a Khelo India player since
the year 2019. He has participated in 4 Khelo India
Games. He is also a player of the Target Olympic
Podium Scheme. Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker have
not only won a prestigious medal but have also set a
new benchmark in Indian shooting sports. Union Minister
of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya says,
“Sarabjot is an embodiment of this pyramidal structure
- from Khelo India to Target Olympic Podium Scheme
and Olympic podium finish. But support alone cannot
guarantee results. It is the hard work of the athletes, the
motivation of their parents, coaches and the people
around them that ensures their ultimate victory.”
