Scrap sales brought in about ₹4,100 crore

Under the Special Cleanliness Campaign, over ₹4,085 crore has been earned through the disposal of scrap
from various central government offices under Special Cleanliness Campaign 5.0. This campaign to clean up
government offices by removing junk has been underway since 2021. According to Union Minister of State
Dr Jitendra Singh, the amount earned from selling scrap is equivalent to the total budget of a mega space
mission or several Chandrayaan space missions. A significant outcome of the Special Cleanliness Campaign
was freeing up of 23.175 million square feet of space, previously filled with
waste materials, old furniture, and junk. This campaign has freed up
enough space to build a massive mall or other large structure for
           economic activities.
