Those who know me also understand me. I am here not for myself, nor for my own
kin. I am here for the poor. I was born into poverty, and I have lived through it. I
understand the pain of the poor.” These words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are
not merely an expression; they are the voice emanating from the heart of a deeply
empathetic individual—someone who harbors immense sensitivity toward the nation’s
Dalits, the poor, tribals, and backward communities. For him, prioritizing Antyodaya
and the welfare of the poor in every decision has become part of his personality trait.
Every national thought—and indeed, the very culture and ethos of India—is dedicated
to the golden dream of a ‘Developed India’, anchored in service, good governance, and
the welfare of the poor. It is this very vision that has forged a protective shield for the
nation’s farmers, rural poor, and the middle class. Through the Pradhan Mantri Jan
Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), health security has been extended to the masses. Over the past
12 years, the aspirations of the poor, farmers, and the middle class have been given new
wings; by creating a cycle of holistic security through inclusive development—and by
binding every citizen together in a bond of safety—a decisive step has been taken toward
realizing a Atmanirbhar Bharat.
