Self-Enumeration for the First Time

                   Online Facility Available in 16 Languages



                This marks the country’s 16th census overall and the 8th census since independence. While the Census has historically
                   been conducted every 10 years, this time it is taking place after a gap of  16 years. More significant than these
                  timelines, however, and a first in the history of  these 16 censuses, is the introduction of  a digital census and the
                provision of  a ‘Self-Enumeration’ option for citizens. Under Section 6D of  the Census (Amendment) Rules, 2022,
                             self-enumeration is a secure, web-based facility available in 16 regional languages.
