                                     MAKE IN INDIA

                      A SIGNIFICANT STEP TOWARDS
                           MAKE FOR THE WORLD

Many questions were raised about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India campaign when
it was launched in 2014. It was widely assumed at the time that India's manufacturing sector was
uncompetitive and that the country should instead focus on the service industry. However, with the
Make in India campaign, India is now producing its own fighter planes, tanks, and submarines, as
well as progressing on the path to "Make for the Globe. Not only that, but we've made rapid advances
in vaccines, gadgets, automobiles, and mobile phones. Now it's the turn of semiconductors, drones,
and military transport aircraft, whose manufacturing sectors have never received the attention
they deserved. To address this shortcoming, first the foundation stone for the country's first
semiconductor plant was laid in Gujarat in September, and then Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid
the foundation for a military transport aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara on October 30.

oday, India has the world's fastest growing aviation
sector. In terms of air traffic, we are on our way to
Tbecoming one of the top three countries in the world.
In the next 4-5 years, there will be millions of new passengers
to travel in the air. The UDAN scheme has propelled the
aviation industry to new heights. It is expected that India will
require more than 2,000 passenger and cargo aircraft over
the next 10 to 15 years. India is already planning to meet
this massive demand. Marking an important step forward,
on October 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the
foundation for a plant in Vadodara, Gujarat, to manufacture
C-295 transport aircraft. This aircraft manufacturing
plant will be the country's first private-sector aircraft
manufacturing facility. Through a collaboration between
Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Airbus Defence and
Space, Spain, the plant will be used to manufacture 40
C-295 aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
While speaking at the foundation stone laying
ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned
the steps taken by the central government in the last
eight years to transform the manufacturing sector.
He also highlighted a number of critical steps taken
by the government to push the country towards
