CODES
Having successfully integrated, simplified, and rational-
ized the relevant provisions of 29 existing central labor
laws, the Central Government has brought into effect
four comprehensive Labor Codes: the Code on Wages,
2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code
on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety,
Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. These codes
have been implemented effective November 21, 2025.
By modernizing labor regulations, enhancing workers’
welfare, and aligning the labor ecosystem with the
evolving world of work, this historic step lays the foun-
dation for a future-ready workforce and a robust, indus-
try-friendly environment. Many of the country’s labour
laws were enacted during the pre-independence era
