A Bill Strengthening a Trust-Based System
The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, has been passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. It amends
784 provisions contained within 79 Central Acts across 23 ministries. Through this legislation, an effort has been made to facilitate
‘Ease of Doing Business’ by decriminalising 717 of these provisions and to enhance ‘Ease of Living’ by amending the remaining 67
provisions. This initiative will foster a balanced and trust-based regulatory ecosystem. It represents an endeavour to decriminalise minor
offences and rationalise existing legal provisions in order to reduce the compliance burden on individuals and businesses.

Parliament Passes CAPF (General Administration) Bill, 2026 by Voice Vote
The Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill, 2026, was passed by the Lok Sabha on April 2 via a

of Inspector General within the CAPF shall be filled through deputation, and a minimum of 67 percent of the posts at
