Workers Receives 125 Days of Guaranteed Employment
The ‘Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act,
2025’ strengthens and expands the existing guarantee framework. Under this Act,
every rural household is provided with a statutory guarantee of at least 125 days of
wage employment per financial year—an increase from the previous limit of 100
days. This initiative will boost rural incomes and enhance livelihood security. The Act
also incorporates a robust statutory unemployment allowance, payable if work is not
provided within a stipulated timeframe; the rates for this allowance will be linked to
the notified wage rates. This legislation reinforces the income stability of households,
thereby ensuring food security and consumption stability for rural families.
